Physical education and Sports -is an integral part of educational programmers designed to promote the optimum development of an individual. It makes one emotionally, mentally and physically strong. The primary aims of physical education have varied, based on the needs of the time and place. Sport is commonly defined as an organized, competitive and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play.department of physical education and sports started in 1993 right from the beginning it was taking keen interest in the field of physical education and sports in order to develop interest and enthusiasm in sports and producing best sports personalities for the nation the college producing all the facilities required by the students. To make learning creative, interesting, interactive and engaging, through a system which is constructive, comprehensive, practical and futuristic."

“Movement Education" is the cardinal principle of human life. Fitness as an industry promotes wellness as a healthy way of life. The Department of Physical Education offers an Application Course only for B.A. Programme I, II, III year. The discipline provides a concrete podium to step into the industry with the thorough knowledge of latest trends in Physical Education, Sports and Fitness. The course provides a vision to the B. A. Programme students regarding a career in Fitness Industry, The multifarious nature of the subject introduces the students to Human Physiology, Scientific Methodsof Training, Fitness, Aerobics and Gym Operation.

AIM OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

1. To gain an understanding and insight into the modern and emerging concepts as well as future prospects of Physical Education.

2. To create awareness of the necessity for vigor and efficiency through physical fitness.

3. To facilitate physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of students.

4. To develop an understanding of the physiological, socio-cultural and psychological factors which influence Physical Education?

5. To create awareness of the necessity to develop a good posture and physical poise.

6. Give special attention to physically challenged children.

7. To create opportunities to develop esprit de corps, courtesy, sportsmanship, social skills, democratic conduct and ideals.

8. To develop skills of planning as well as practical skills in order to perform effectively.

9. To develop the ability to relate practice to classroom learning and vice-versa.
