Saraswati Shikshan Prasarak Mandal the Educational Society was found in 1982. The Society has been offering a noble task of spreading education in the rural and tribal areas like Gadchandur, Pellora and Korpana of Chandrapur district that is situated at the border of Maharashtra State. The establishment of the society was the result of sincere and hard efforts of Late. Haribhau T. Dohe. The basic ( Late. Haribhau T. objective of the society is to impart higher and professional education to boy and Dohe ) girls of poor, needy, backward and tribal families. The Society runs Three High schools, Two Junior Colleges, Two Vocational Junior Colleges in the above mentioned areas. It also rune One College named Sharadrao Pawar Arts and Commerce College , at Gadchandur . Which was established in the year 1993.

Sharadrao Pawar Arts And Commerce College, recognized by and affiliated to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli, is imparting education to students belonging to tribal and economically very backward sector of the society. As the college is located in the backward and tribal area, its mission is to educate poor, needy and tribal students. Under the Arts faculty, if offers subjects like Marathi, Marathi Literature, English, Political Science, History, Economics and Sociology. The college premise is situated at the main road of Gadchandur city and is near the bus station. The college has a huge building with terrace garden on the second floor. The college is having a well maintained library and Gymnasium with modern equipments. The college is also having ground in the premise with an additional ground on four acres land at some distance from college. It is having computer laboratory for tribal and backward students and a well equipped seminar hall. There is separate department for each subject and a well managed administrative black, Model classroom with ICT equipment were made available to the students. The departments of N.S.S., Adult Education and Cultural Activities put forth every possible effort for the overall development of the student. The teaching faculty members of the college are highly qualified and committed to the overall progress of the students. College is imparting education to more than 658 students belonging to tribal, rural and backward families. The basic objection of the college is to educate such students making them self dependent and contributing to the development of the society. Keeping this objective in mind, it carries out its movements in this perspective.
